Iron Mountain Manager Critical Facilities in Frankfurt, Germany

The MCF is responsible for the proper functioning of all critical infrastructure within the datacenter and has line management responsibilities for the Critical Facility Engineers.

The Critical Facility Manager works within the Operations Department and reports into the Site Operations Manager. As member of the Operations Management Team the MCF is co-responsible for realizing all operational goals and targets.

The Critical Facility Team makes sure all pro- and reactive maintenance is executed according IMDC standards and within the proper timeframes. The team also works to continuously optimize the Critical Infrastructure of the datacenter. The Critical Facility Engineers are the technical owner and contact for infrastructure related incidents.

The Critical Facility Manager is responsible for building managing the maintenance budgets. He is working in close cooperation with the Site Operations Manager and the Manager Service Delivery.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing all critical infrastructure in the datacenter

  • Managing and coaching the team of Critical Facility Engineers

  • Keeping the knowledge level of Critical Facility Engineers up to date

  • Further optimizing the existing infrastructure

  • Concluding and managing contracts and SLAs with maintenance supplier

  • Managing the maintenance costs according in line with budget

  • Acting as an escalation point in the event of malfunctions and calamities (24x7)

  • Managing and optimizing Critical Facility Management processes and procedures (In line with compliance standards)

  • Drawing up the necessary Health and Safety guidelines together with the QA manager

  • Delivery of annual maintenance planning and monitoring of progress

  • Deliver input on projects from Design & Construction Team

  • Accepting newly delivered data center capacity

  • Providing support for complex / non-standard sales processes

  • Provide management information on KPI’s and performance of team

  • Roll-out global standards and tooling within the teams.

Required skills

  • Preferred 5 year plus experience in a mission critical operational environment. Data center experience mandatory.

  • HBO / college degree or equivalent. Additional trade or technical education strongly encouraged

  • In-depth understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a critical operations environment with the ability to quickly fathom technical situations and steer the team to resolve effectively and efficiently.

  • Time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize.

  • Ability to take initiative to ensure tasks are completed.

  • Strong people manager with the ability to connect at different levels.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written.

  • Able to create incident reports, process documentation and technical documents.

  • Unquestionable personal integrity and work ethic.

  • 24x7 mentality

  • Curious, driven and ready to learn

  • Familiarity with work processes, ISO/BS standards
