The Bid Manager leads the end-to-end bid management process, assembling the necessary resources to develop high-quality, deadline-driven proposals for public sector and commercial clients. This remote work role is part of a high-performing, global team of bid and proposal managers who help to drive revenue and reinforce the Iron Mountain brand across the DACH Region (Germany/Austria/Switzerland). The preferred candidate writes and speaks German fluently, is proactive and is experienced in working in a deadline-driven environment.


  • Analyse and understand customer requirements within public and commercial tenders, leading kickoff and interim calls and coordinating customer question development. Create a responsibility matrix and schedule and track proposal progress.

  • Research, write, coordinate and edit proposal content in collaboration with cross-functional business teams, with a focus on consistency, organization, differentiation and compliance.

  • Develop customized proposals that focus on customer outcomes and benefits, revising subject matter expert responses as needed to communicate complex issues in a clear, understandable way. Responsible for the quality, accuracy and integrity of the final document.

  • Coach sales and subject matter experts in persuasive writing and proposal best practices. Leverage past experience to contribute process improvements that streamline proposal development and reinforce customer outcome-focused content.

  • Support content library by contributing new and revised content in conjunction with the Content Management Specialist.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of company products and services and their corresponding value proposition.

  • Coordinate with sales to secure feedback on lost or won opportunities and discuss gaps in capability, pricing or customer relationship to develop lessons learned.

What You Will Bring To The Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field preferred.

  • Minimum three years of experience managing complex proposals for public sector and commercial accounts, preferably with extensive government bid experience.

  • Fluent in German and English , both written and verbal.

  • Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail and ability to generate creative ideas that contribute to winning value propositions, solution strategies and executive summaries.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with limited guidance.

  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of proposal best practices.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite and Adobe Acrobat, and experience with proposal library tools such as RFPIO or Loopio a plus.

  • Experience with cloud services, digital solutions and/or information technology solutions preferred.

  • APMP certification a plus.
